Victor Loche

Victor Loche (1806 - 1863) was a French soldier and naturalist. He was the author of Histoire naturelle des mammifères de l'Algérie (1867) and Histoire naturelle des Oiseaux de l'Algérie (1867). Loche first described the Sand Cat (Felis margarita), which he identified as a distinct species while exploring the North Sahara.[1]
